Oumuamua

A Cosmic Enigma: Oumuamua

Professor Abraham Loeb, the chair of Harvard University’s Astronomy Department, has boldly stated, “This could be one of the greatest discoveries in human history.” He’s referring to Oumuamua, the first interstellar object ever observed passing through our solar system.

Loeb’s scientific belief is that Oumuamua might be an ancient spaceship, originating from Vega, the brightest star in the Lyra constellation, located 26 light-years away. This theory echoes the plot of the 1997 film “Contact,” where Dr. Eleanor Arroway (played by Jodie Foster) sends radio waves toward Vega in search of extraterrestrial life.

Oumuamua, an object billions of years old, has likely traveled through our solar system multiple times, gradually deteriorating into its current asteroid-like appearance.

What If?

In my artwork, I’ve imagined what Oumuamua might have looked like thousands of years ago. Perhaps its crew suffered damage, leaving it adrift in our solar system. Or maybe it’s a remnant of another civilization, similar to ours, that explored Earth 100,000 years ago.

The possibilities are endless.

Ancient Civilization

What IF it’s true?
