What happened to Newt and Hicks ?
I am indeed an Alien Fan , since having the privilege of watching “ALIEN” at the movie theatre sometime in the 1980’s, even though UK released it in 1979 with director Ridley . Since it’s debut 44 years ago, I’ve watched this classic science fiction horror about twenty times. At the time, it was considered a low budget horror film which quickly turned into a classic gem to us science fiction fans.

Since the original Alien, we couldn’t wait to see a follow-up movie. We waited for seven years before “ALIENS” (directed by James Cameron) was finally released in 1986. The second movie sequel didn’t disappoint expecting the third movie, “ALIEN 3 “ to continue with Ripley, Newt and Hicks. Right off the bat the writers toasted Newt and Hicks within a couple of pages of the screenplay. Talk about being disappointed ☹️. The overall storyline was ok, but why couldn’t they continue with characters Newt and Hicks ? Whatever the reason I was oblivious to the comic-book scene, where Aliens franchise carried on. At the time, unknown to me, Dark Horse Comics ( well-known publisher of Aliens comics) published limited series from 1988 to 1999. Unfortunate I never capitalized on the Alien franchise storyline through comics, loosing some valuable storytelling features.

If only I had known…
Interesting, when the 1992 film “ALIEN 3” revealed Newt and Hicks characters were killed off during hyper sleep by an Alien hugger , Dark Horse Comics creators had no choice but to introduce reprints, renaming their characters “Billie” and “Wilks”, in order to match the Alien franchise films, which is bizarre in itself. It truly would of been great if Dark Horse Comics just continued on with characters Newt and Hicks as a way to stick to their guns, blasting those Aliens into the comic series “ Aliens Omnibus “ released on July 2007. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case at all ; must be some legal entity requirement?

Nevertheless, Dark Horse Comics did some great storytelling additions to the Alien series. In the last couple of years I’ve been feverishly writing my own science fiction horror manuscript “ Black Angels” and finally publishing it the past year. Years before I wrote many editions screenplay adaptations under the same name, hoping a director or film producer would buy the script, turning it into a blockbuster science

fiction horror. I spent years editing and resubmitting to no avail. Frustrated with the film industry’s politics I decided it was time to write a hardcopy book, revealing the full storyline of “Black Angels”. Here’s a little taste of the original Logline and storyline:
LOGLINE:
War hero seeks revenge for brother’s death, risking his crew in a mining expedition on planet ALPHA XL-420 for the priceless Red Crystal, essential to saving their species from a deadly virus…
STORYLINE :
Long before humans had a foothold on earth, Intelligent alien humanoids occupied our planet, in a race to save their species from certain death. A special team of highly trained soldiers, known as the Royal Emperor Guards of King Osiris, are assigned to this precarious mission.
Unknown to the crew, lead Commander Cardin is looking for revenge, but at the same time, must protect his soulmate Karen from harm. It’s a love story, filled with liberty, politics and morality ; intertwined with the future of humanity and its consequences.

An exciting scifi horror genre sure to keep you glued to your seat. Featuring surprising literary Easter Eggs, carefully placed throughout the novel, including open-enders, clueing the reader to possibly another book ; creating characters and timelines into a complex web of future references.
If you’re into Alien horror, you too will find my book “Black Angels” an intriguing collection to anyone’s science fiction thirst of favourites. Please share and like, so other science fiction fans get a chance to read my latest book.
Signing Off…
Addition Note :
You may of noticed I haven’t written as often as I wanted to on WordPress. It’s now you know the reason behind that ; writing a manuscript takes a ton of time and effort. It’s my hope you’ll enjoy my book “ Black Angels” as much as I did writing it.
