We’ve all watched or heard of the 2014 movie Interstellar. This film is indeed a favorite for science fiction fans like me, and at its core is the power of love. The movie suggests that love is not just an emotion but a fundamental, measurable force that can transcend the known dimensions of space and time. It is Cooper’s love for his daughter that guides him into the black hole to save humanity, and it is Murph’s love and faith in her father that allows her to solve the gravity equation, ultimately saving the human race.
The film’s concept made me think of something truly amazing. I decided to take it a step further, suggesting that love is not just a force to be discovered, but one that was purposely designed to be part of the cosmic fabric. We are part of that fabric; our existence was written long before we ever came to be. This transforms the message from “love is powerful” to “humanity’s ability to love is the key to the universe’s survival.”
The idea that we are already “written into the cosmic story” is the ultimate expression of this love. It turns the entire journey into a closed loop in time. Imagine, future humanity—the cosmic beings in the fifth dimension—don’t just happen to save their past. They have to, because their existence depends on it. They are the same beings as the ones they are saving. In that sense, every choice, every act of love, and every discovery was always meant to happen, a necessary part of the universe’s journey. It’s not a coincidence; it’s our cosmic destiny.

The Written Cosmic Force of Love
The biting wind whipped around Ezzy as she hurried down a small street in Jasper, the glow of holiday lights painting fleeting warmth on her cheeks. Two summers had passed since a terrible fire destroyed half the town, and the community was still recovering from the devastation. It had been a long, unforgiving year since the destruction, and Ezzy knew that meeting up with her friend was crucial.
Reaching the only café available, she opened the door to reveal a welcoming murmur of conversations and the scent of roasted coffee. Inside, amidst the quiet, cozy atmosphere, sat Logan. He was sketching in his worn notebook, oblivious to the festive chaos outside, lost in the intricate lines that seemed to flow from his very soul.
Ezzy watched him for a moment, a familiar wave of affection washing over her. It wasn’t just fondness; it was a deep, resonant connection, a feeling that transcended the ordinary. It was the same inexplicable pull she’d felt the day they first met, a feeling as fundamental and undeniable as gravity.
They had met serendipitously while on a hike on one of Jasper’s many trails. Ezzy, grasping for the last bit of energy to reach the peak, wasn’t aware of anyone else nearby. To her surprise, an offering hand reached out to help her. Logan had been quietly enjoying the view of a mother grizzly bear and her cubs in the far distance below the summit, a safe distance away. When their hands immediately sparked and ignited, a universe of shared moments unfolded before them throughout the summer months—laughter under cosmic skies, whispered secrets in the dead of night, and the quiet comfort of simply being in each other’s presence.
After the devastating fire, everything had changed. Logan was a Park Warden helping in the crisis, which pulled him away from Ezzy. They both knew the responsibility of the events at hand was more important than their love, or so they thought.
During their time apart, Ezzy’s heartache made her ponder the connection she and Logan had, this magical force that had drawn them together so powerfully. It felt preordained, like a note struck in the vast cosmic symphony, resonating with another in perfect harmony. It was as if their love story wasn’t something they were creating, but something they were remembering, a narrative already etched into the fabric of existence.
She remembered a late-night conversation with Logan, gazing up at the star-dusted mountain sky. They had talked about the mysteries of the universe, about dark matter and the relentless expansion of space. Logan, ever the dreamer, had mused, “What if the most powerful force in the universe isn’t gravity or electromagnetism, Ezzy? What if it’s something we feel every day, something we take for granted?”
That “something” was love.
Ezzy believed with a certainty that resonated deep within her bones that love wasn’t just a biological imperative or a fleeting emotion. It was a transcendent force, purposefully woven into the very structure of reality. Perhaps, eons ago, in the nascent moments of the cosmos, the seeds of connection were planted. Maybe the intricate dance of particles that eventually led to their existence, to their meeting on the summit, was not random at all. Maybe it was a carefully orchestrated sequence, guided by the unseen hand of this fundamental force.
But that would mean the force of nature had feelings. And, if the cosmic equation was written, who or what wrote it?
Even though Ezzy didn’t believe in a physical God or a “man in the clouds” so to speak, she did believe that every living creature had a soul. She felt that our entire existence was a cosmic regeneration from life to death and so on, throughout an endless cosmic story. So, what entity controlled this cosmic story, or was it even controlled at all? Her mind was constantly bombarded with these mysteries of our very existence. All she knew was that love played an important part in the overall equation, and she needed to find an answer.
Today, however, as Ezzy approached Logan’s table, a smile bloomed on his face as he looked up, his eyes mirroring the warmth in her own heart. In that simple exchange of glances, Ezzy felt her theory solidify. Their love wasn’t a chance encounter; it was a testament to the enduring power of a force written into the cosmic story long before their individual threads of existence began.
They were not just two people who had fallen in love. They were part of a grander design; their connection was a vital strand in the intricate tapestry of the universe, a living embodiment of the written transcendent force of love. As she slid into the seat opposite him, taking his hand, Ezzy knew their story had always been. Their souls had been searching for each other throughout millennia, longing for each other, and finally, they had found each other.
